#SOLSC15 Day 22

Thank you to the Two Writing Teachers and the Slice of Life writing community for providing this opportunity to share our "slices." Thanks to Stacey, Anna, Beth, Tara, Dana and Betsy for creating a place for us to share our work. Check out the other slices and join in the fun!

I shouldn't have checked the time at 4am.

Maybe my phone shouldn't charge beside me each night.
Perhaps across the room is best?

  1. I, too, am familiar with the social media dance you mention! How quickly it sucks us in!!!

  2. I think you need to put it in another room! That little screen sucks us in so easily!

  3. Oh boy! I am with you!!! I have done exactly the same thing. My phone is my alarm, so it's always next to my bed. Sigh...

  4. For me it's not social media, but books that make me lose the sense of time. Although in March, my alarm wakes me up pretty early.

  5. Ha! I get it! I do it! I, too, use my phone as my alarm. I have to keep it next to my bed as I have aging parents that I need to be available to at all times. I've not done "this particular dance" in the middle of the night, but do enjoy the "snooze" feature and often check email when I should be out of bed vs. "snooze" options.

    D :)

  6. I love the pace of the click and the pin. Is it this instant-ness that keeps us hooked?

  7. Boy isn't this the truth. It is amazing how time gets away from you when you are on these things! Once click turns into many clicks and then the time has clicked away!

  8. This is me, but instead, it's me at night, before I head to bed. We have a "no screens in the bedroom" rule, which is as much for me as for my kids!

  9. Isn't this the truth? I love the poetry format! I try to keep my phone out of my bedroom but that just hasn't been happening lately. And oh man-when I wake up in the middle of the night people, I'm reading your blogs and tweets! Thanks for sharing!

  10. I think that you described this perfectly! I also suffer from this habit and it's a hard one to break!

  11. Oh wow! I couldn't do this that late at night, but I do have a bad habit of staying up to late surfing the internet. I do it for too long and then realize I never worked on what I set out to do. Sigh.

  12. This whole tecky life can become addicting! Some nights I have a stiff neck from looking down at my iPad for so long! Great slice!
